DESCRIPTION

Itinerary of the Jeep tour along the Tengin Ridge leads from Baku to Guba. During the trip you will see beautiful landscapes of the Greater Caucasus, mountain lakes and magnificent waterfalls, you will ascent to the ancient fortress of Chirach-gal at an altitude of 1,232 meters above the sea level. This tour is ideal for extreme lovers & people who want to visit extraordinary places.

Sacred mountain Beshbarmag

From the ancient times Beshbarmag Mountain has been an excellent waymark for mariners, thanks to its height and shape. There you can see remains of the ancient defensive structures belonging to the VI-VII centuries, built by the Sassanid rulers in the early medieval period. Behind the mountain there are ruins of the ancient city Hursangala, and at the foot of the mountain there is a holy place called “Pir Khydyr Zunja”, where travelers stop to pray and worship.

Chirah-Kala

Chirah-Kala is a fortress located on the top of the mountain, in 20-25 km drive to the south of Shabran city, near the Gala-Alty village. This fortress was built in the IV-VI centuries AD at the height of 1232 meters above sea level. Under assumptions of experts it was a patrol construction, as its location allowed to survey a large area and warn about the threat with the help of lights, lit on the towers.  Most probably this is what gave rise to its name, direct translation of “Chirah-Kala” word is “Fortress-lamp”.

Construction performed a defensive function until the 18th century. Over the past 200 years, it had been almost destroyed.

Vanished Village Nokhurlar and mountain lakes

You will visit village, or rather its ruins and several houses, where only 18 people are living at the moment. You will learn the reasons why people left their village and come here only during warm season.  Not far from the village, there are Nokhurlar mountain lakes, which are very deep and consist of sweet water.

Afurdja

Afurdja is one of the highest waterfalls in Azerbaijan, located in the Velvelecay river basin, near the Tengin gorge, not far from Afurdja village in Guba district. It falls from the Tenga Mountain, its height is about 70 meters.

Afurdja waterfall is a natural monument of Azerbaijan Republic and is protected by the state.

Tengaltyn Gorge

In the Tengalty area, which is one of the most picturesque corners of Azerbaijan, the canyon of the river Valvechay passes between the mountains, forming a beautiful and spectacular gorge – Tengalty.
