Day 2:
 Old City & Modern Baku

Start the day at 09:30.

Begin your exploration with Icherisheher (the Old City) — a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Wander through narrow cobbled streets lined with caravanserais, mosques, baths, and ancient stone walls.

Visit the Maiden Tower and Palace of the Shirvanshahs, and feel the magic of “1001 Nights” come alive.

Then continue to the modern heart of Baku — Nizami Street and Fountain Square, where history meets vibrant city life.

Walk along Baku Boulevard and Little Venice, and visit the remarkable Carpet Museum, whose exterior resembles a rolled-up carpet.

Stop by the Observation Wheel for Caspian Sea views, then pass Azneft Square, Governor’s Garden, and the elegant State Philharmonic Hall.

Finish the day with a visit to the Heydar Aliyev Center, designed by world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid — a true symbol of modern Azerbaijan.

Return to the hotel.

Visit the Gobustan Museum and explore the open-air petroglyph site at Beyukdash Hill.

Continue to the Mud Volcanoes Tourism Complex, where you’ll witness one of the world’s most unique geological phenomena — bubbling gray mud mounds shaped by underground gas.

Optional upgrade: Off-road Jeep adventure through the Gobustan hills for a more thrilling experience.

  • Mardakan Fortress and Tuba Shakhi Mosque – medieval landmarks representing the architectural heritage of the Shirvanshahs.

  • Ateshgah Fire Temple (Surakhani) – a 17th-century Zoroastrian sanctuary where sacred flames once guided pilgrims from India.

  • Balakhani Village – one of the world’s oldest oil-producing settlements, featuring restored stone houses, narrow lanes, and colorful murals that reveal the city’s oil-boom past.

  • Green Bazaar – end your day at Baku’s lively central market, perfect for picking up sweets, spices, teas, and local souvenirs.
